MADISON, Fla. – A Madison man is behind bars, arrested for beating another man to death.
It happened in the parking lot of the Madison County Health Department before 10:30am Thursday.
Police say the victim, 62-year-old Michael Logan of Madison County was picking up some medications from the health department.
That's when, according to police, Cedrick Edwards, also of Madison started beating Logan with a stick.
Authorities say staff from the health department tried to resuscitate Logan, but it was too late and he died.
Police say they don't have a motive at this time.
"We can't find anything at all at this point,” said Madison Police Chief Gary Calhoun. “As far as we know the 2 didn't know each other, we don't have any indication (of) what would have sparked something like this."
Police say Edwards escaped the scene, but through eyewitness accounts, they were able to find and arrest him.
