TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Tallahassee Irish Society is bringing a piece of the Emerald Isle right here to the Capital City.

The group is hosting a performance of Steafán Hanvey's "Look Behind You! A Father and Son's Impressions of The Troubles in Northern Ireland through Photograph and Song."

Steafán is a critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter who grew up during the Northern Irish Troubles with photojournalist father Bobbie Hanvey.

The multimedia performance-lecture tells the story of how both artists "negotiated the personal and political landscapes" of their home.

Randall T. Webster, executive director of the Tallahassee Irish Society, and board member Tim Kerns joined us on WTXL Midday for all the details. Click the thumbnail to see the interview.

Steafán Hanvey's "Look Behind You!" performance is Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Maguire Center in Westminister Oaks (4449 Meandering Way in Tallahassee). Tickets are $20 a person or $15 for members of the Tallahassee Irish Society.
