OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Eleven students are recovering from injuries after their school bus crashed near Ocala.
The crash happened Monday afternoon as the bus was taking the middle and high school students home.
The Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1qQQngS ) reports three students were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, while eight were treated in Ocala hospitals. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening. Most were complaining of hip and neck injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash occurred about 3:45 p.m. Monday when a Jeep hydroplaned and crashed into a minivan. The van hit the school bus.
The Jeep's driver told troopers he was reaching for his cell phone when he saw traffic and hit the brakes. He's been charged with careless driving.
