TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A special exhibit is proving just how many things can be an inspiration for art.

FAMU is hosting a month-long exhibit called "Patchwork to Freedom." It features quilts from families throughout the community.

Anjali Austin, Associate Professor of Dance at Florida State University, shared 33 quilts from her grandmother as part of the exhibit. It comes after she brought together those same quilts with her dance background to create a live performance. Austin joined us on WTXL Sunrise to talk about why this quilt exhibit is so important. Patchwork to Freedom is open now through the end of July at the FAMU campus. It's free and all are invited.
