TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Saturday, July 4, 2015, the Vietnam Veterans of America Big Bend Chapter #96 will host the reading of the Declaration of Independence on the front steps of the old Florida Capitol.
Start your Independence Day out at 9:00 a.m. by attending the 35 minute event, which will feature:
- Instructions on the proper way to salute the flag
- The Pledge of Allegiance
- Singing of The Star-Spangled Banner
- A reading of The Declaration of Independence
- Opportunity to commit by oath to protect and defend the United States of America
- Singing of The Battle Hymn of the Republic
Organizers say there will be no political speeches, as this is about recognizing how this country began.
