TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Bookshelf in Tallahassee is celebrating its birthday, but you could be the one getting the gifts. Saturday is National Free Comic Book Day.

There will be free comics of course, plus costumes characters and face painting. In year's past, more than 1,000 people (and characters) have shown up to the party.

Coordinator Joe Berg and Beast from X-Men joined us on WTXL Midday for all the scoop. Click the thumbnail to see the complete interview.

The Bookshelf is celebrating 35 years in town, making it the oldest and largest independent bookstore in Tallahassee. The store is also gearing up to open its second location in Killearn Lakes on May 16.

You can take part in Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at The Bookshelf (1303 S. Monroe). For more information, call (850) 224-2694 or click here.
