TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Last year, Leon County Schools reported 797 homeless students. So Capital City Youth Services wants to raise awareness and funding.

That's where the inaugural CCYS Sleep Out comes in.

CCYS serves homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth through prevention and intervention services.

After Leon County's report of the number of homeless student, the group is now challenging community leaders to give up the comforts of home for one night to sleep.

They're also asked to raise $797 to support the CCYS mission.

The CCYS Sleep Out starts Thursday, December 3, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. at Capital City Youth Services (2407 Roberts Avenue). Participants will be given a box and security.
