LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Instead of buying Christmas presents this year, a sheriff's deputy and his wife decided to help 150 others who were behind in paying off their school lunch accounts.

Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deputy Shannon Volkodav tells news outlets that Cpl. Matt Stoner and his wife recently paid off the accounts of 150 Central Gwinnett High School students, restoring full meal access for each Lawrenceville student.

WAGA-TV (http://bit.ly/2hh82pH) reports that it cost the family less than $300 to settle the accounts.

Stoner's wife Gabriela chose to send the money to Central Gwinnett High School after finding out that it had the highest number of free and reduced lunches in the area.
