BUFORD, Ga. (AP) - Firefighters say that a Georgia man set two vehicles on fire before returning to the scene a day later pretending he'd heard about it in the news.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that 21-year-old Nicholas Minardi was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges including second degree arson. He's accused of starting the fires Sunday evening at a Buford storage facility.

The fires extensively damaged both cars and two adjoining storage units.

Gwinnett County fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge says investigators saw Minardi's vehicle in the storage facility's surveillance videos and that his claim wasn't true, as the fire department hadn't yet issued a news release to local media.

Minardi was booked into Gwinnett County jail on Tuesday. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
